ITMA REVIEW

SPEED Logo  LAUNCHED IN BIRMINGHAM

ITMA Visitors from around the world witnessed the launch of the SPEED brand and saw the latest products available from Cartes Equipment of Italy.

The SPEED concept has been applied across the range of machines offering customers greater production volume per hour than our competitors.

The reel-to-reel Laser 200 cutter proved to be a real "crowd puller". This SPEEDy machine, now well established around the world, provides a high speed and endlessly versatile cutting tool. Available in three models the laser machines are the flagship product in the Cartes range. At ITMA visitors saw badges being cut at 130+ pieces per minute.

ITMA saw the release of ultra-sonic cutting on the already popular narrow web foiling machines. One system featured ultra-sonic cutting at a SPEED of 11,000 pieces per hour! The other system was showing the new embossing system for textiles which, coupled with ultra-sonic cut, gives a highly technical, very soft and innovative label.

Another technically very advanced new machine was the TNU 500 ultra-sonic slitting machine. Now available with an operating width of 500 mm supported by four ultrasound units, this machine provides an unbeatable operating SPEED of 60 metres per minute.

Screen printing featured for the first time with the introduction of the SN 160 reel-to-reel screen print machine. This simple single colour machine operates at a SPEED of 3000 print cycles per hour giving manufacturers the opportunity of incorporating new ink effects onto labels and narrow fabrics, such as glitter and puff inks.

The best selling CE104 amazed visitors who saw it apply a self-adhesive backing to woven labels before cutting them at a SPEED of 400 cutting cycles per minute.

Also new at ITMA was the AP2 heat setting and sizing machine. This machine is available in two models (2 fabric ends or 4 fabric ends) and features dip tanks, twin calendar rollers, hot air drying (with waste recycling) and versatile unwind/rewind. Operating SPEED is 20-50 metres per minute.

The SAR calendar saw new markets in the heat setting, fusing and bonding of ribbon fabrics, which will complement its existing use within the label market.

Cartes was also exhibiting the TP 210 cut and fold system and their own ARCA label design software system.
